Supported Employment

Trinity Hope is committed to preparing clients who seek paid employment.

By teaching interviewing skills for positions that meet their skill level based on their ISP. With the use of a predetermined job skills list, and survey that identifies client’s interest and abilities, clients will be referred to employment opportunities where there is potential for the success on the job. Whenever possible, clients will be encouraged to visit potential job sites to be coached by Trinity Hope staff before choosing to work for a certain agency.

The employment model used by Trinity Hope is community based and non-segregated.

The program activity of choice always is paid work; work which is integrated and offers the participant an opportunity to utilize the skills he/she has and to learn new ones. At the integrated work site, Trinity hope staff assists the participant in establishing routines which will assist him/her in social integration at the job site (i.e., use of facilities, timing breaks, joining conversations, etc.); the staff also serve as an advocate for the participant during his or her time at the job site.

When integrated job placements are slow to come, it may be necessary to accept non-integrated work period yard work, outdoor and indoor maintenance, van washing and trash pickup or recycling are a few examples of paid non-integrated work.

The program focuses on the development of skills that are needed to build work stamina, attention to task, following instructions and communicating needs.
